Hanna Somatic Education (Back to Top)

Hanna Somatics Education (HSE)

The late Thomas Hanna, PhD, a neuromuscular pioneer, developed this important work that is both a hands-on work, a movement practice, and a unique perspective of the human mind/body's potential. The hands-on work offers some of the most effective techniques available today for addressing chronic pain and postural issues. The movement practice offers excellent tools for self-care and repair and helps move a body towards its full movement potential.

Ha
nna Somatic Education
is a natural, gentle, and safe way to end chronic pain, increase flexibility, and relieve stress.
  • It is a system of neuromuscular education (mind/body) training.
  • It is best described as a Western Form of Hara Ecucation.

John Barnes Myofascial Release (Back to Top)

Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
The therapist skilled in Myofascial Release is concerned with releasing and reorganizing the body's fascial restrictions mechanically and reorganizing the neuromuscular system. The reorganization occurs by supplying the central nervous system with new information (awareness) that allows for change and improved potential and consciousness.
Myofascial Release is a whole body "hands-on" Approach to the evaluation and treatment of the human structure. The therapist is taught to evaluate the fascial system through visual analysis of the human frame threedimensionally in space, by palpating the tissue texture and various fascial layers and observing the symmetry, rate, quality, and intensity of strength of the craniosacral rhythm. Proper Myofascial Release requires ongoing reevaluation, including the above procedures and observance of vaso-motor responses and their location as they occur after a particular fascial restriction has been released. This provides instantaneous and very accurate information enabling the therapist to proceed intelligently and logically from one treatment session to the next, to the ultimate resolution of the patient's dysfunction.

Swedish Massage (Back to Top)

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Shiatsu Massage (Back to Top)

Shiatsu Massage is a Japanese form of massage. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.

Reflexology (Back to Top)

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet.  Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body.  According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet.  Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
